Joga Bonito Bookzine
The publication comprises all elements of Nike's celebration of Brazilian
sports culture and football in particular. "5 Star Heritage"
is the description of the Brazilian football team in five key phrases:
Alegria (joy), Arte (art, Ginga (skills, moves), Moleque (frivolous
and unreliable smart kid), and Raça (determination, guts).
Further sections include photographs by Enrico Salvadori, the art
of Os Gemeos, a description of and stills from the movie "Ginga",
an interview with Gilles Peterson as well as football players Robinho
and Ronaldinho. Joga Bonito Bookzine comes packaged in a box designed
after one of Os Gemeos' structures (note: only editions given out
in Berlin feature the red bandana-style mask!). It contains the book,
a gold/white picture disk with mixes of "Joga Bola" by 3rd
Face, Savino Martinez, and Pastaboys (Manocalda Remix), the "Ginga"
DVD, a mix CD by Gilles Peterson, and a football!
Only 2006 issues of Joga Bonito are in existence but none will ever
be sold. Getting one could be difficult but is well worth the try
anyway...

Nike Court Force (Motion Capture)
For Joga Bonito, the recently re-issued Court Force basketball shoe
was given a special treatment: "We used a graphic application
on the shoe that was inspired by a motion capture image from our sports
research lab of a Brazilian footballer executing a move ebodying "Ginga"
– says Jesse Leyva, designer on this project.
