Finding the right watch is a difficult task. Even more so as a grown-up. As a child you didn't really care much about time in the first place. So your watch was more or less a toy, maybe with a calculator, games, etc. As a youth you might not have cared too much either. After the global Swatch hysteria during the 90s (sidenote: the current sneaker frenzy is nothing compared to the Swatch craze ten years ago) the Casio G-Shock is probably the only model which stuck in our minds.

Nothing really much followed after that. But as a grown-up entering the working life, there wasn't really much room for 'play', anyway. Either you save up and take the 'watch-for-life' path with a Rolex, Panerai, Tag Heuer, Breitling, etc. or you chose the 'it-shows-the-time' route and buy whatever.

Recently we came across the Special Ops watch by Multi Time Machine Inc. It caught our eyes and fascination for its utilitarian aesthetics and advanced functionality. This watch does not pretend. It was designed and built for a purpose: "[To] meet the needs of Special Forces in the field. The main challenge was to design a lighting system that would enable Special Forces personnel to read a map at night or at low level lighting."

Sure enough we are neither Special Forces nor often in the field, but having a light at hand is very practical for civilian life, too. Apart from the design and functionality, there is one other aspect which makes this watch exceptional and well worth considering: "The MTM Special Ops Watch is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with an included electro magnetic induction charger." In simpler terms: you will never have to change the battery.

The MTM Special Ops watch is well-designed, it has outstanding technical features. Even though its design is functional and subtle it surely makes a statement. This model seems like a good alternative to or might even be the 'watch-for-life'.'
