Lindstrøm: It’s A Feedelity Affair

UK / Norway

Hans-Peter Lindstrøm, or Lindstrøm as he's better known has been on our radar since a chance purchase of 'Untitled' EP in mid 2003. With an
impressive debut album in late 2005 (a collaboration with cohort Prins
Thomas on Eskimo Recordings), HP is back with his first solo album "It's A Feedelity Affair" released on his own label Feedelity Recordings at the end of October.

Hailing from Norway HP has taken future boogie, dubby disco, or whatever you may wish to call it to another stratosphere with originality at the base of each composition. BGHD caught up with HP on one of his whistle stop tours in the UK, and forged a friendship, resulting in an exclusive interview.

Interview: Hans-Peter Lindstrøm

Your music is very unique how would you describe it?
I call it contemporary disco.

What influences or references stimulated your sound?
Popular music from the last 4 decades, all kinds of musical instruments – everything that makes a sound really ...

What clubs around the world do you rate?
There are many nice clubs around, such as Plastic People & Fabric in London, The Electric Chair in Manchester, Go Bang/Rollerboys/Club Caviar in Sweden and most venues in Japan.
I prefer the small, intimate venues with super-good sound-systems and a nice friendly music-loving crowd (who know my songs by heart!)

Are there any issues that are really bugging you at the moment on a world scale?
Yes many, but since I'm living in a bubble, the only thing I can think of now is that my Studer A-80 isn't working properly ... , It's not exactly on a world scale ...I guess I should watch the news more often to get an updated picture of the world...

Take us through the pictures you sent us, and what they mean to you?
Things I like: the Omni chord & the Studer A-80.. Both of mine aren't working properly, and I really do believe that if these machines were working fine, they'd do magic on my recordings!!!! ... I guess I'm totally wrong, but nevertheless, I do believe in miracles.

I know it's a cliché, but I cannot exist without my iPod.
This little box contains Swedish snus – smokeless tobacco, used and abused by a whole new generation of young people after the smoking-law prohibited people from smoking cigarettes in public places.

Is there one record you're always on the hunt for?
Walter Gibbons – “Disco Madness” / 2LP on Salsoul. I guess it's not VERY hard to find this one, but I haven't got it yet – and it's been on my list for many years now ....

In terms of fashion, and art what are you into?
Hm, I'm not really into these things anymore... I just need my worn-out jeans!

Thanks HP, and thanks for the music!
