The Black Angels - Passover
Austin, USA
Mainlining down the mescaline freeway, The Black Angels have not just touched a raw nerve in the US they have ripped it right out.

Their debut album 'Passover' released in October on Light In The Attic Records takes dark influences like The Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, The Stooges, and The 13th Floor Elevators with poignant anti-war lyrics, producing a dark and impressive sound called 'Native American Drone & Roll'.

Formed in 2004 in Austin, Texas, the six-piece band (plus projectionist) took their name from a classic Velvet Underground record called 'The Black Angel's Death Song'. This was the name of their debut EP released in late 2005, featuring the anti-war cry of 'Black Grease', and 'The First Vietnamese War', it set out their view of an apocalyptic world.

The album 'Passover' further builds on their creeping soundscapes, and bleakly uplifting rhythms, delivering an album that once played is arresting, and addictive.

Come over to the dark side!
