Waiting For A Lucky Hit by Tina Steffan
Berlin, Germany
Thanks to inexpensive digital cameras (and camera phones) anyone can shoot a movie these days. But not everyone holds the talent and skills to put together a comprehensive and entertaining film.

If someone does have the talent and skills, however, even without a budget, 'real' actors and just a few days at hand for shooting and editing the result could look something like this short film by Tina Steffan: Waiting For A Lucky Hit.

The film was shot in two days at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin which turned out to be a superb setting - even more so after Tina had converted the color footage into a high-contrast black and white. Besides the visual impact and clever story-line, to me the most interesting and astonishing aspect of this project was Tina's determination and her focus regarding the outcome. It was this determination that Tina managed to convey to her cast - all of us good friends of hers - to act naturally and to stay focused. Tina put a lot of trust in us and I guess we also trusted her a bit, too. Not to get smashed and ridiculed by the global online audience (well, hopefully...).

Waiting For A Lucky Hit can be viewed at the Filmaka Competition website from June 2nd. All entries will be reviewed by a group of individuals from the movie realm such as Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, Paul Schrader, or Colin Firth to name only a few. Winners will get a chance to direct a second short movie and the finalist is offered to produce a feature film.

Take a look - maybe even register and vote for Tina!
