55DSL Hamburg / Mike Bouchet

Hamburg, Germany
For the opening night of their temporary store in Hamburg, 55DSL invited artist Mike Bouchet to conceptualize an installation as well as a performance.

The key-element of the performance was a bag originally in use by NASA during space missions. Dozens of these space sacks filled one of the rooms of the temporary store meant to serve as changing cubicles (?) or chill-out compartments. For the evening, Mike also staged a re-enactment of the MTV dating show "Next" with a twist: all four candidates were also put into mentioned space bags which they never left, either. Quite the odd set-up I must admit and unfortunately I wasn't able to check it out myself. So it's up to our imagination then to visualize what happened during that evening.

If you happen to visit Hamburg until November 30th you can still check out the installation. Maybe they will even let you try squeezing into one of the bags and do your own little gig.
