Printed Matter Pt.1 - WTAPS

A part of Beinghunted was always meant to be an archive of all the images, links, and contacts accumulated over the years. While before I had cut out interesting pages of magazines, or just kept the whole magazine for that matter, as a form of reference, the internet meant that storing images digitally would take up considerably less space, it would enable cross-referencing - try that with magazine cut-outs - and searching through thousands of articles in the blink of an eye.

Besides the obvious advantages digital information has one major flaw: access is limited as you need a computer, power, and for the web an internet connection in order to retrieve it. Surely, most of these issues are currently being solved, our mobile devices become more versatile and soon we'll all be online, all the time. Until then, however, paper is in some ways still superior to digital. Photos and texts are 'displayed' in a much (much!) higher resolution, the variation of formats is endless, it is easy to carry and it won't break if you drop it...
Using the web for reference, I still never stopped collecting catalogues. The main objective was and still is to build and keep an archive of the brands that I find interesting. Thankfully, these brands - many of them Japanese - still take their printed matters very seriously. Visvim, Neighborhood, and WTAPS all produce catalogues each season. And these booklets are not just 'thrown together' pamphlets but carefully editited book(let)s. The collections are profesionally styled and shot in differing surroundings relating to the theme of the line.

Just a few days ago, WTAPS released it's latest edition - the catalogue for their spring/summer season "Extreme Prejudice". A great new addition to the collection!
