From skateshop to skateboard manufacturer.

I believe that one of our earliest stories about Alena in Montreal dates back to 2003 when we were reporting about the Broken Deck show, just one of the many exhibitions that were held at the store. The most exciting part about this particular show for us was that one deck from SatOne, a good friend of ours in Munich, and our own Beinghunted deck were part of the line-up of customized boards on display. Unfortunately, there never was a chance to visit Alena before it closed, however, the communication channels stayed open ever since then.

Jeremy went on to work in the skiing industry but also revived Alena not too long ago as a proper skateboard brand. Apart from the high manufacturing standards, I particularly like the folkloristic design language of these decks: some of them actually are but all of them actually 'feel' like they were hand crafted. Alena seems like the older, a little more mature brother to most other established skate brands...

I am very happy to welcome Alena back here on Beinghunted with this small showcase of their range of decks. You will find Alena's own descriptions alongside the various boards to give you a little background information on the shapes and designs. Even though the images are quite large and detailed, we do encourage you - as always - to try to check these out "in the flesh" if you have a chance.

Visit ALENA Universal for further information and check out our Beinghunted Archive with the story on the Broken Deck HERE.
