  Giant Project: OsGemeos & Futura
The "Gigante" at 320 West 21st Street.

After our visit to Rucker Park in Harlem we took a break in Chelsea to meet OsGemeos and Futura who were putting the final touches to their giant mural, as well as the organizer, Allen Benedikt of AKANYC/12oz Prophet who explains the idea of the Giant Project: "We want to open a dialogue with the city of New York and work with local and international artists to create a regular mural series that we believe will inspire and enrich the creative communities throughout the city." (1)

The figure, which took five days to finish mixes the styles of the Brazilian twins and graffiti legend Futura. The key element in the design is a pattern of flags representing countries from around the globe: "We are using different flags painted with non-traditional colors. The idea is one world one voice, no borders, no separation, just everything and everyone working together for a single cause that is a better world." - OsGemeos (2).

During our stay at the school ground, Martha Cooper, too, had stopped by to document the work which at that point had moved up to the pointman designs by Futura on the character's shirt. For images of the finished mural you can visit OsGemeos website which is listed below.

The mural can be found at P.S. 11/William T. Harris Elementary School at 320 West 21st street in Chelsea. The project was supported by the artists, AKANYC, Montana Colors and the World Basketball Festival.
